Southern Gothic "A Rose For Emily" and "The Life You Save May Be Your Own"

Southern Gothic romanticism is a unique form of literature which takes place mostly in the south. Gothic Romanticism is basically all about people who have bad lives or many problems in their lives, also it is about how they can overcome many harsh situations. The two stories relate to southern Gothic romanticism because each character in the stories have bad lives, or hard times growing up. In "a Rose for Emily" I believe that her crimes go unnoticed until she dies because she sealed off the top floor and no one ever been in there, and even if they tired to go and talk to her she wouldn't answer. When they tried to talk to her about the tax collection she just ignored them. No one found Homers body because it was basically locked up for no one to see. The only time anyone could go and investigate was after she was dead. In "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" the hitchhiker in the end really brings together the story because it shows the rottenness of many people even if you are doing something good for them.
